I was born in Fortaleza-CearĂ¡, the windiest place in Brazil and my father and uncle together had more than 12 national champion titles. I grew up just watching them racing. When I was 4 years old I was already sailing my Bic kids. By 7, racing slalom against women. Then came the time that PWA were holding races at Fortaleza. At this time I was sailing waves and it gave a big push for my windsurfing wishes and skill. Then, when I was 11, I finished 2nd in Brazilian Formula championship (under 18). At the age of 12 I went to Maui for the first time. It was March/April (2002) and sailing there I was invited by Anders Bringdal to use his boards, so he started giving me boards to race. Also got Naish sails to give me rigs. In November 2002 I won the CearĂ¡ waves contest over all sailor. After this I heard we were going to have freestyle races at Jeri (finished 8th) and I started doing freestyle tricks.
Now I can do almost all tricks. As also having good friends that are racing the tour (Diony, Kauli, Konan, Ricardo etc.) having windsurfing and school as main goals in my life, and after my second season at Maui, last March/April 2003, when I practiced a lot with my friends, they told me that it was already time to start learning how to race against professional sailors.
